Privacy Policy

The short version
- LUNA is run by the LUNA team. You can reach us at luna.online.help@gmail.com.
- We collect what LUNA needs to work: your account, your profile, and what you post, send and do in the app.
- Your birthday, saved posts, blocks and reports are private. Messages and Night albums are only for the people in them.
- We don't sell your data, we don't show ads, and we don't use tracking or advertising cookies.
- You can delete your account any time in the app (☰ menu → Delete account).
- LUNA is only for people 13 and older.
1. What we collect
Your account
- Email address and password. Your password is stored scrambled ("hashed") by our login provider. Nobody at LUNA can see it.
- If you use Continue with Google, Google tells us your email address and name. We don't copy your Google profile picture.
- Your birthday, asked once to check you're 13 or older. It's private: other people can never see it, and it can't be changed later. If you enter a birthday under 13, we don't save it and the account is removed.
Your profile (public)
- Your @username, display name and profile photo. Logged-in LUNA users can see your profile. Anyone with your profile link (like luna-online.pages.dev/yourname) can see your profile and posts, even without an account.
What you post and do
- Posts: your photos and videos, captions and #hashtags. For photos, LUNA also saves the 3 main colors of the picture (your "Aura").
- Likes, comments and follows, which other users can see.
- Saves (bookmarks), which only you can see.
- Stories, which disappear after 24 hours, and who has viewed your stories.
- Messages between you and another person. Only the two of you can see them in the app. They are protected by our database rules, but they are not end-to-end encrypted, so please don't share passwords or very private information in messages. If someone reports a message, we may read it to check it.
- Night albums: photos you add are visible only to the people in that album, and only after it "develops". An album and its photos are deleted 30 days after it develops.
- Notifications (for example "someone liked your post").
- Blocks and reports you make. These are private. The person you block or report is not told it was you.
Face finding in Night albums
When you add a photo to a Night album, LUNA counts how many faces are in it, so photos of people can be shown first. This happens on your own phone: the photo isn't sent anywhere to be scanned. We only save the number of faces (for example "3"). We don't save face shapes, we don't recognize who anyone is, and we don't use faces for anything else.
On your device
LUNA keeps a few small things in your browser's storage so the app works smoothly: your login (so you stay logged in), your favorite filters, which Night albums you've already opened, and, if an under-13 birthday was entered, a note so the age check can't simply be repeated. These don't track you anywhere else.
What we don't collect
We don't collect your location, your contacts, or your phone's other photos (only the ones you choose to post). We don't use advertising or analytics trackers.
2. Why we use it
- To run LUNA: show your profile and posts, deliver messages, build your Home and Explore, and send notifications.
- To keep LUNA safe: check that users are 13+, handle reports, enforce blocks, stop spam, and remove content or accounts that break our Community Guidelines.
- To send emails you need, like confirming your account or resetting your password. We don't send marketing emails.
3. Who helps us run LUNA
We use a few trusted services. They handle your information only to provide their service to LUNA. Some of them store data outside Pakistan.
| Service | What it does for LUNA |
|---|---|
| Supabase | Our database, file storage (photos and videos) and log in system. |
| Cloudflare | Hosts the LUNA app (the website you open). |
| Brevo | Sends emails like account confirmation and password reset. |
| "Continue with Google" sign in (only if you use it), and the fonts LUNA's text uses. | |
| jsDelivr | Delivers some of the code LUNA uses, including the on-phone face finder. |
We don't sell or rent your information to anyone. We may share information if the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety (for example, content that puts a child in danger).
4. How long we keep things
- Stories: 24 hours.
- Night albums: until 30 days after they develop.
- Everything else (profile, posts, comments, messages): until you delete it, or delete your account.
- Deleting your account: your account is hidden from everyone right away. If you don't log back in within 30 days, it's deleted for good, together with your profile, posts, comments, messages, stories, birthday and album photos. Some copies may stay in our systems for a short time after that (for example, files waiting to be cleaned up), but nobody can see them.
5. Your choices and rights
- See and change your profile any time (☰ menu → Edit profile).
- Delete any post, comment or story you made, or your whole account (☰ menu → Delete account).
- Block anyone (⋯ on their profile or in a chat). They can no longer see you or contact you.
- Ask us for a copy of your information, to correct something, or to delete it, by emailing luna.online.help@gmail.com. We'll answer as soon as we can.
6. Children
LUNA is not for children under 13, and we don't knowingly keep information about them. If we learn that someone under 13 is using LUNA, we remove the account. If you're a parent and think your child under 13 has an account, please email us and we'll delete it. If you're between 13 and 18, please talk to a parent or guardian about using LUNA.
7. Keeping your information safe
We use database rules so people can only see what they're allowed to see: for example, private Night album photos stay locked even to LUNA's own app until the album develops. No system is 100% secure, though, so please use a strong password that you don't use anywhere else.
8. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. For big changes, we'll also tell you in the app.
